As
part of a yearly tradition, the CrimeNews 2000 group sets aside one day
each year to remember victims of crime by holding a news posting
moratorium. In place of the news, we post a tribute to victims of crime. Although Memorial Day began as a way to remember soldiers who died for the United States, we have chosen that day to keep alive the memory of those who died as a result of violent crime. It is our hope that by keeping their memory alive, we will be inspired to work with our communities in the pursuit of justice.

![]() Timothy Edward McKenna ![]() My dad, Timothy McKenna was brutally murdered on February 10, 1996 in Indianapolis, Indiana. His case remains unsolved. He is sadly missed by his 3 daughters and 12 grandchildren. He wouldn't want to be remembered this way though. He would want us to remember that he loved to fish, that double sausage pizza from Jack's was his favorite, that he liked burnt bacon and fried eggs, that he would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He would want us to remember that he loved Notre Dame and anything Irish. He would want to be recalled as the tanned, young-looking dude at the pool that all the women admired, though he knew he was the one with bird legs and a bald spot on the top of his head. He would want us to remember his shamrock tatoo that read ERIN GO BRAUGH (Ireland Forever),and he would want to hear us laugh as we remembered funny stories about him. If you were his friends, he would want you to remember him for all the fun times and the many beers you enjoyed together, and if you were his family, he would want you to remember that he's still watching over you, still listening, still loving you. And if you were the one that murdered him, he would want you to remember that he is still living, that no one could ever kill his spirit or his memory, for it will live FOREVER!

CHRISTIN LAMB September 30, 1989-July 19, 1998 Eight year-old murdered by a friend's father, whom she knew and trusted A POEM FOR A BEAUTIFUL CHILD A Bud the Gardener gave us A pure and lovely child He gave it to our keeping To cherish undefiled But just as it was opening To the glory of the day Down came the Heavenly Gardener And took our bud away.
Still missing but not forgotten.
George P. Mc Dougall and Pauline M. Mc Dougall Zachary Blacklock My grandparents both of Albuquerque New Mexico, were murdered March 3, 1996 when they went to pick up their grandson, from work and the Hollywood Video store. They were taken up into the mountains and killed. George and Pauline both served in World War II, George in the Army, and Pauline in the Navy and are buried in Sante Fe, New Mexico. Zachary Blacklock my cousin was working at Hollywood Video and was taken into the back room along with two others and murdered. George and Polly Mc Dougall were both very loving and caring people, they not only cared for their own family but many others. George enjoyed golf and reading, and after battling cancer survived to enjoy many more years. He believed in this country and guarded it with his life. Polly touched many, working at a middle school as secretary. She took personal interest in all the students and helped many of them with her overwhelming knowledge of life. She gave freely of her time and love expecting nothing in return. After retirement she worked for the New Mexico State Fair and made many friends, she enjoyed working with people and quilting with her friends and sewing. Zachary enjoyed art and photography. He enjoyed time with his friends and family, Japanese anamated movies, and was planning for art school. He chose to live with his grandparents George and Polly after high school. At only 19 years of age he had such a short time to experience life.
